Terms of use

These experimental tools are provided by Seal and Standard L.L.C. This pilot is designed for adult chess coaches and clubs. Use it for learning, research and lawful coaching or personal study.

Prototype limitations

Results can be incomplete or incorrect. The demo uses real prerecorded footage with an annotated position timeline; it does not measure live recognition. Confirm camera moves, check source snippets and review engine variations before relying on them. Saved studies are device-local. The footage review room saves annotations and PGN to your signed-in account when you choose Save review; original local videos remain on your device. Drawings in the review room are manual. The live-board pilot follows legal appearance changes from a confirmed starting position and projects square-based annotations using fixed-camera calibration. It does not independently identify arbitrary board positions. Live coaching feedback analyses only the confirmed digital record and should be used only when engine assistance is permitted. It requires a confirmed initial position and may miss or misread moves. Optional automatic recording is experimental; check the resulting game record. Recalibrate whenever the camera moves. Phone recording requires a compatible browser, available local storage, and a visible, unlocked device. Recordings made with the camera tool stay in this browser, have no audio, and do not include workspace overlays. Imported videos may already contain audio. Recording can be interrupted by screen lock, app switching, storage limits or device termination. A retained incomplete file may not play. Download important recordings and test your phone before relying on it for a full game. Finish & review associates only a recording started in the current live session with any confirmed PGN. If no moves were captured, Review recording opens the exact saved video for manual review with an empty move record. It does not establish that every recorded move matches the physical game or infer move timestamps. Check the picture before linking positions. Coach-selected questions and answers are supplied by you; student worksheets omit coach answer fields but include question text. Engine practice checks a short-search preference and does not establish that every alternative is worse. Temporary tab recovery and browser storage can be lost or cleared, so export backups you need to keep. We may update or discontinue prototypes.

Your materials

Import only documents and recordings you are entitled to use. Respect copyright, player privacy and tournament rules. Record only with the players’ permission and follow the venue or event’s rules. For organized or rated games, obtain any required organizer or arbiter approval for recording devices. Do not use engine assistance during active play unless the game’s rules expressly permit it. Rights in imported materials remain with their respective owners. Importing content does not transfer its copyright to you or to us.

Physical products and access

An access request is an expression of interest, not a purchase, reservation or guarantee of model access. Collection enquiries express interest; physical product specifications, pricing and availability are not confirmed by this site.

Open-source components

The review engine uses Stockfish under GPLv3. Its license, matching source and network are available from our engine source and license page. Physical-board recognition model provenance and licenses are available at our recognition notice. Other components retain their respective licenses.
